The Awards Dinner
A dinner given by UAB Veterans Services at the end of each semester to all student veterans graduating. The student veterans can invite family and friends to join in the celebration. During the dinner the student veterans are awarded a challenge coin and a graduation cord.
Graduation Cord
The graduation cord is given to each student veteran graduating. These red, white and blue cords are a special recognition to show UAB’ s gratitude and respect for the men and women who have made an unwavering commitment to both their nation and their academic studies.
Challenge Coin
The challenge coin is a specially designed coin awarded to our UAB graduating student veterans with a 3.4 grade point average or higher. This coin is awarded during each semester to those attending our Veterans Services Awards Dinner. If the eligible Student Veteran is a non-resident student, we will mail the coin to the address provided after we have been notified.
