How do I pledge to the Benevolent Fund?
The simplest way is to complete an electronic pledge . You will be prompted to enter your blazer ID and password; from there, you can enter your pledge amount and any nonprofit designations. Alternately, you may complete the UAB Benevolent Fund printed pledge form, which can be downloaded or obtained from the Benevolent Fund Office located at 1613 11th Avenue South. Once I sign a Benevolent Fund pledge form for payroll deduction, when do my contributions begin?
If you elect to payroll deduction, your contributions will begin on the next payroll processing period.

Can I give a one-time contribution to the Benevolent Fund?
While we encourage everyone to be a continuous giver, we recognize there are a variety of reasons that may not be the best option; so, we provide a number of alternatives. Employees may give the following ways:
- Single payroll deduction
- Check payable to the “UAB Benevolent Fund” mailed with a completed pledge form.
- Credit or debit card gift
- If you are interested in transferring stock, review the UAB Gift Acceptance Policy and Guideline for Publically Traded Securities.

How will monthly deductions be handled for bi-weekly paid employees?
Biweekly employees will have their monthly pledge broken into 2 deductions with ½ in the first pay check of the month and the other ½ in the second paycheck of the month. For example, an employee pledging $25 a month will have $12.50 deducted from both the 1st and 2nd paychecks of each month; the total gift equals $25. Nothing will be deducted from the 3rd paychecks in the months where 3 checks are issued. The exception is UAB Callahan Eye which breaks out the annual amount evenly across all 26 paychecks.

Do I need to redo my pledge each year during the Benevolent Fund Campaign?
No, if you have an established continuous pledge, only complete a form if you would like to make changes to your existing pledge. If you have a continuous pledge established, that pledge will continue until you request that we end it. If you made a one-time gift during the previous campaign, you will need to complete a new pledge form for additional gifts to the new campaign. Employees can make as many one-time gifts as they would like.
