Shanshan Lian, Ph.D.

Dr. Shanshan Lian is a postdoctoral scholar at the Institute for Human Rights in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her research interests include human rights, human security, international NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations), repression, and gender. Her skill set includes Bayesian statistics, network analysis, social experiments, regression modeling, web scraping techniques, sentiment analysis, GIS (Geographic Information System) technique, etc.

She received her Ph.D. in Political Science and International Affairs and an M.S. in Statistics from the University of Georgia in August 2023. Her work has been published in the Journal of Human Rights and Human Rights Review.
