Marching Blazers
With over 200 members, the Marching Blazers contribute to campus life at UAB through performances at football games, pep rallies, and many other campus-wide events. The group is frequently sought-after to perform at statewide and regional marching band competitions as the exhibition band.

This group contains both music majors as well as non-music majors who simply love the act of creating music in the wind band setting. Emphasis is placed on developing outstanding tone quality, solid intonation, technical proficiency, and ensemble musicality.

This is a high-energy instrumental ensemble that provides music and spirit for all home games of the Blazer and Lady Blazer Basketball teams. There are 80 performers chosen for participation. Performance literature includes school songs, spirit/cheer tunes, pop music, and other contemporary selections.

The UAB Summer Band is a community group comprised of adult amateur and professional musicians from the metropolitan Birmingham area. The band rehearses on Monday nights throughout June and performs an annual July 4th concert on UAB's campus.

The Birmingham Youth Wind Symphony is an elite youth ensemble of musicians from grades 8-12. This ensemble performs once per semester in the Alys Stephens Center, and requires members to attend six weekly rehearsals to prepare each concert cycle.

In addition to the large ensembles at UAB, students have the opportunity to participate in the Jazz Ensemble Big Band and Jazz Combos and other fantastic opportunities including: brass and woodwind quintets, flute choir, clarinet choir, trumpet ensemble, horn choir, trombone choir, and tuba-euphonium ensemble.
