The Center for Clinical and Translational Science is thrilled to announce 2026 Pilot Projects. Selected through a rigorous competitive process, projects represent a variety of disciplines from across the CCTS Partner Network. Each project is systematically addressing barriers in translational science to accelerate the journey from research discoveries to improved human health and healthcare delivery. This year’s projects seek to identify and address translational roadblocks to healthcare delivery, health literacy, clinical implementation, as well as preclinical models of disease and drug repurposing.

The leaders behind this year’s work include:
      • Hirotaka Ata, MD, PhD, University of Alabama at Birmingham
      • Reed Bratches, PhD, MPH, MALS, University of Alabama at Birmingham
      • Xiaoshan "Judy“ Gordy, PhD, PBACC, University of Mississippi Medical Center
      • Morgan Yordy, DNP, MSN, BSN, Auburn University
      • Helen Omuya, PharmD, PhD, University of Alabama at Birmingham
      • Elizabeth “Liz” Martin, PhD, Tulane University
