UAB School of Dentistry’s annual Alumni Weekend, February 2-5, 2023, will kick off the school’s yearlong 75th anniversary celebration.

Held at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham – The Wynfrey Hotel, the weekend will showcase almost two dozen continuing dental education lectures, with 67 CE hours offered.

Speakers will include Jon Suzuki, DDS, PhD, MBA, on Contemporary Periodontology & Oral Implantology; Mary Charles Haigler, DMD, MS, on TMD & Orofacial Pain; and Thomas McDonald, DMD, on Complex Esthetic-Restorative Cases. The weekend will also feature alumnus David Sarver, DMD, MS, presenting on dentofacial esthetics.

“The largest dental meeting in Alabama, Alumni Weekend is the highlight of the year for our organization,” said Scott Huffman, alumni association executive director. “We hope all of our alumni can join us for a weekend of amazing continuing education opportunities and interaction with our approximately 60 vendors and sponsors.”

There will also be plenty of opportunities for fun with fellow classmates and alumni. Alumni from the 1950s, 60s, and 70s will be honored during a Medallion Luncheon and reunions are scheduled on Friday and Saturday evenings for classes ending in “3” or “8.” Also on Saturday evening, the dental students will hold their 11th Annual Variety Show, which is back onsite and in-person this year.

Alumni Weekend is the official start of the school’s anniversary celebration. Each month, the school will have special stories, events, and activities for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to recognize the milestones and achievements that have made the UAB School of Dentistry one of the top dental schools in the world.
