Kimberly Carr, D.M.D., M.S., is among 20 UAB faculty and staff leaders who were selected for the latest cohort of UAB’s Blaze Leadership Academy, which launched September 13. The academy is designed to prepare high-potential faculty and staff for senior leadership opportunities and become the stewards of UAB’s future.
An associate professor in the School of Dentistry Department of Pediatric Dentistry, Carr joined the full-time faculty in 2021 after 20 years in private practice. She serves as co-director of UAB Sparks Dental Clinic. Her full-time commitment has included teaching at the UAB Sparks Dental Clinic, the SOD Finn Pediatric Clinic, and the Children’s of Alabama Dental Clinic.
Carr has held offices and committee positions at the local and state levels in several dental organizations. She maintains membership in the Alabama Dental Association (ALDA) and the Alabama Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (ALAPD), having served in the House of Delegates, on the Board of Trustees, and as a District Officer of both organizations. She also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Alabama Regional Medical Services.
An active School of Dentistry alumna, Carr has served on the SOD Alumni Leadership Council and mentored Student National Dental Association members. She currently serves on the SOD Admissions Committee and recently completed two terms on the Children’s of Alabama Hospital Peer Review Committee.
