Augusto Antonio Robles, D.D.S., M.S., D.M.D., was elected Chair of the Distance Learning Committee of the AACD earlier this year. This committee is responsible for online continuing education and oversight of all online education.
An associate professor in the School of Dentistry, Robles joined the full-time faculty in 2008 to serve as the Operative Dentistry Curriculum Director for the Restorative Sciences department. His full-time commitment has included associate professor of general dentistry, and scientist for the Global Center for Craniofacial, Oral and Dental Disorders (GC-CODED). He focuses on minimally invasive dentistry, ceramic onlays, and dental materials, and lectures both nationally and internationally.
Robles has held multiple prestigious positions within the dental community. He graduated from the ADEA Summer Program for Emerging Academic Leaders and The Dawson Academy in 2016. For over a decade he has served multiple terms on the University Relations Committee of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Currently, Robles is in the process of AACD Accreditation, aiming to be Board Certified in Cosmetic Dentistry.
Robles is an active UAB School of Dentistry alumna. He graduated from the UAB Healthcare Leadership Academy and has represented UAB as faculty in Japan twice. In 2020, Robles was honored with the UAB President's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
