Alabama is a state with one of the highest rates of hypertension and hypertension related cardiovascular disease impacts citizens of Alabama more than any other health condition. For more than 40 years, UAB has been at the forefront of hypertension research in the US and worldwide. Faculty members at UAB have been members on all of the US blood pressure clinical practice guideline writing committees for the past 20 years. Hypertension researchers at UAB have impressive portfolios of basic, clinical and population research funding providing the opportunity to develop an intellectual home for interdisciplinary hypertension-related research activities.
