New to the process of commercializing inventions?
Here’s what you need to know.
Welcome to the Bill L. Harbert Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (HIIE), where our primary goal is to facilitate the transfer of innovative ideas and disruptive technologies from the research lab to the marketplace. You may have heard this process referred to as “technology transfer” or “technology commercialization.” Through this mechanism, we introduce inventions such as vaccines, software, medical devices and so on to the world.
Every member of the HIIE team is driven to help UAB’s faculty, staff and students as they imagine, innovate and invent novel solutions for societal issues both new and old. We join the campus community in a common goal of establishing UAB as a premier institutional force for groundbreaking research and thriving commercialization.
Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in technology transfer. We hope you find everything you need here. If not, please email
