Intersection of workflow and knowledge
UAB is a diverse and collaborative environment that is working to change the world. Each team and project calls on communication and collaboration to achieve success. How can it be easier, what should you use and when should you use it?
Communication: Sharing knowledge
UAB provides email for students, faculty and staff through Office 365, which means you get access not only to email but also to calendering, contact management, task management functions and the Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Phone
UAB IT is replacing the current digital phone system on campus with a voice over internet protocol solution, known as VOIP, which offers clear audio quality, voicemail-to-email capability and other new features.
Digital Signage
UAB IT offers an inclusive digital signage solution to campus departments and schools. Digital signage offers dynamic, vibrant messaging with easily adaptable, branded content. With proper hardware, signs can even be interactive.
Collaboration: Working together
Teamwork
Using Microsoft Teams allows teams a digital hub that brings conversations, content, tasks and apps together in one place. Teams provides live and historical chat making real-time collaboration easier for departments, support groups, projects, etc. Teams integrates seamlessly with other services like Office 365 groups, Microsoft (planner, to-do, OneNote), file storage and third party applications.
Video Conference
In partnership with the UA System, Zoom video conferencing is now available to students, faculty and staff at UAB. Zoom provides cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, and group messaging creating a complete conference room solution.
Survey
Qualtrics is a sophisticated online survey software that is available for free to all UAB faculty and staff. Users are empowered to capture insights and analyze results to make data driven decisions.
