We are now accepting abstracts to be considered for a concurrent session at the CCVC 11th Annual Symposium taking place October 10-11, 2024, in Birmingham, AL

11th Annual CCVC Symposium

This call is open until September 27, 2024. 

The abstract call is open to topics that include basic, clinical, translational and population science that are broadly related to cardiovascular disease. Priority for oral presentations will be given to submissions related to Racial Disparities in Cardiovascular Disease. All abstracts will be assigned to poster presentations.

Abstract Submission — More Information

Cash Awards and Eligiblity

Graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical fellows, and residents are eligible for the Featheringill Young Investigator Award and cash prizes. The primary authors of the top 3 abstract submissions will be invited to present a 15-minute oral presentation at the symposium on Friday, October 11, 2024. The top presenter will be awarded the Featheringill Young Investigator Award and a cash prize of $500. The runners-up will receive a cash prize of $250 for second place and $100 for third place. Authors selected to present at the symposium will be notified by Tuesday, October 1, 2024. Symposium registration at time of submitting abstracts is required.

Design Guidelines

  1. Abstract Guidelines: Limit of 500 words or less, excluding title and authors. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font, justified, single line spacing, 1 inch side margins, and 0.5 inch top and bottom margins. Abstract format should consist of: Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusions/Broader Impacts, and Acknowledgements. Include author affiliations. References not required. Figures and tables allowed.   

  2. Presenting author must be the first author.

  3. Poster Session: The Poster Session is scheduled for Thursday, October 10, 2024, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., and will be held in-person. Presenters will be given the opportunity to introduce their posters during the "Poster Blitz" via short presentations (1 slide/2 minutes) prior to the Poster Session. The top poster will be awarded a cash prize of $100.
