ITO-MOMS
Intergenerational Transmission of Obesity (ITO-MOMS)
The children of women who are obese or who have gestational diabetes (GDM) are at increased risk of obesity later in life. The purpose of this study is to evaluate how a woman’s body mass index (BMI) and gestational diabetes (GDM) contributes to the baby’s risk of childhood obesity. We will measure the hormones and inflammatory markers in the participant’s blood and the baby’s blood to try to determine what mechanisms contribute to obesity and metabolic disorders in infants born to women with obesity and gestational diabetes.
