Didactic Activities

Kennamer Distinguished Lecture
Established in 1978, the Kennamer Distinguished Lecture series brings nationally recognized leaders in healthcare to Montgomery to interact with the medical, business and political community and discuss their views on important issues in medicine.  The lecture series was endowed through the generosity of the late S. Rexford Kennamer, MD—a Montgomery native and cardiologist—to ensure the series continued for the benefit of future generations of physicians Montgomery and the River Region.

Medical Grand Rounds
The Montgomery Area Community Health Science Institute —the CME arm of the UAB Center Montgomery—has brings speakers to Montgomery to provide high quality state-of-the-art CME programs to educate health care professionals and enhance the overall quality of healthcare in the community. These sessions have been open to all healthcare professionals in the community at no charge.

Teaching Rounds
Teaching Rounds with invited physicians or healthcare workers are regularly held in conjunction with Grand Rounds. In these 45-minute sessions, a resident presents a case and the invited speaker discusses the case in a teaching format.

Morning Report
Morning report is a 45-minute case-based, resident-run discussion outlining diagnosis and management.

Noon Conferences
Noon conferences, held each day Monday through Friday, are a mixture of case-based discussions, medical practice presentations by local and regional health care professionals, Journal Club, Board-type review practice, monthly M&M conference and resident-driven practice training.
