The Areas of Distinction program at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is designed to allow students to personalize their educational experience and be recognized for building expertise in their area of interest. Each of these Areas of Distinction represents a topic that is important to the mission of our school, and broad enough that it can be customized further if a student so desires. Students will be able to complete the requirements for distinction in a number of different ways, but all will have completed focused educational experiences, clinical experiences, scholarly activity, and community engagement in the area of specialization.
