George Nelson, M.D. (2011-2015), Co Editor-in-Chief. 
George was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. He graduated magna cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College with a degree in biological chemistry before venturing south to earn his medical doctorate at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. He returned home to join the Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2011 and now serves as Chief Medical Resident. As part of the UAB Alumni Communications Committee, he hopes to strengthen ties between the program and former UAB residents in his home city and nationwide.

Ashley Haddad, M.D. (2011-2015), Co Editor-in-Chief. 
Ashley is one of the four Chief Medical Residents at UAB. Originally from Mandeville, Louisiana, she received her undergraduate degrees from the University of Notre Dame in Psychology and Pre-Professional Studies. She returned home for medical school, and is one of many UAB residents to proudly claim Louisiana State University as her medical alma mater. Next year, she looks forward to beginning a career in Academic General Internal Medicine, and she is delighted to be participating in the Letters to Tinsley alumni newsletter once again!

Rebekah Weil, M.D. (2012-2016), Contributing Editor and Writer. 
Rebekah was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, before escaping to New Orleans to attend college at Tulane University. After graduation, she moved to Washington, DC to participate in the National AIDS Fund AmeriCorps Program, aimed at decreasing the transmission of HIV and caring for those living with HIV/AIDS. She completed medical school at UAB and is currently in her third year of Internal Medicine Residency. Rebekah will serve as a Chief Medical Resident in 2015-2016 and is considering a career in General Internal Medicine with a focus on underserved communities.

Josh Stripling, M.D. (2012-2016), Contributing Editor and Writer. 
Josh was born in the Southwestern Georgia metropolis of Leesburg. He attended the University of Georgia, majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a secondary interest in Philosophy. He then attended medical school at Mercer University where he was in the inaugural class of Mercer's Savannah Campus. He greatly enjoyed his first years at UAB, and he is looking forward to participating in the Gorgas Course in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene in Lima, Peru, this spring. Josh was recently selected as part of the Chief Medical Resident class of 2015-2016.

Kirk Russ, M.D. (2012-2016), Contributing Editor. 
Kirk hails from the great state of Mississippi where he grew up in Jackson. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. He went on to obtain his medical doctorate at the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He joined the Tinsley Harrison Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2012 and will serve as Chief Medical Resident for 2015-2016, after which he plans to continue training in gastroenterology. He looks forward to the opportunity to bridge the gap between the UAB residency and alumni communities by contributing to Letters to Tinsley.

Monee Amin, M.D. (2012-2015), Contributing Editor. 
Monee was born in Saginaw, Michigan. She grew up a vagabond, attending four elementary schools in four different states by the age of eleven. Upon graduation, Monee entered the combined six year B.A/M.D. program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. After a brief detour at the University of Kansas, she returned and completed both her degrees, subsequently arriving at UAB in June of 2012. The adjustment to residency has been seamless in large part due to her co-residents and faculty. She looks forward to interacting with UAB-trained physicians both past and present during her future endeavors.

Jori May, M.D. (2013-2016), Contributing Editor and Writer. 
Jori was born and raised in Birmingham. She earned her undergraduate degree from Duke University in North Carolina and her medical doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis. However, she could not stay away from Alabama for long. She is now excited to be back home as a second year resident at UAB. She is following in the footsteps of her grandfather who was a physician in Birmingham for over 40 years. Jori therefore has a great appreciation for the history of medicine in the city, and she is looking forward to being part of its present and future.

Carlie Stein, M.D. (2013-2017), Contributing Editor and Writer. 
Carlie is a third generation native of Birmingham. She attended the University of Georgia with an undergraduate degree in Biology and Psychology. She then returned home to UAB for medical school, where she follows in the footsteps of her uncle and grandfather who both practiced in Birmingham. She was so impressed with the UAB Internal Medicine and Pediatrics programs that she pursued a combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency here. She is currently enjoying her second year of residency and is excited to interact with alumni to strengthen the bond between past, present and future residents.

William Moore, M.D. (2013-2016), Contributing Editor and Writer. 
William was raised in Clanton, Alabama, where his grandfather served as a general practitioner. He attended Birmingham-Southern College where he earned a B.S. in Biology. He then attended the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, receiving his medical doctorate in 2013. He subsequently moved to Birmingham for Internal Medicine Residency. He enjoys being a part of the medical community at UAB and is looking forward to serving as a connection between current and previous UAB medicine residents.
