Adam Cole graduated from University of Transylvania in 2006, Magna cum laude. He was able to balance a heavy college workload with the busy schedule of a college athlete and played on the Men’s Varsity Basketball team for four years. Adam later attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine in Lexington Kentucky, was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha society in 2009 and graduated from medical school in 2010 when he chose to join the Internal Medicine program here at UAB.
Adam has continued his stellar performance at UAB. He received the Housestaff Spirit Award at UAB, awarded by faculty and peers in recognition of outstanding attitude and enthusiasm. Adam has also been very involved with pulmonary research here at UAB including work with Dr. Joao de Andrade, where the focus is working on identifying a serum biomarker for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis that could help with prognostication of the disease.
With plans to pursue a pulmonary/critical care fellowship, Adam has focused steadily on this goal throughout residency. As an intern, he was well known to his upper levels as the intern that had already read Marino front to back, and back to front.
In his spare time, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife, Ellen, and dog, Buddy.
