Deep South Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR)

The Deep South Resource Center for Minority Aging Research (RCMAR) invites Letters of Intent to apply for one-year pilot grants focusing on minority aging and health equity. While we are interested in all applications focused on health equity in older populations, we prioritize social, behavioral, psychological, and economic research on the processes of aging at both the individual and societal level demonstrating relevance to minority aging and health equity in the Black/African American population or other minoritized populations.

  • Available funds: up to $40,000
  • Award Project Period: One year: July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026
  • Eligibility: Faculty members at Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM), Tuskegee University (TU), University of Alabama (UA), or at UAB, at the rank of Instructor to Associate Professor are eligible. Faculty applicants of all racial or ethnic backgrounds are eligible.

  • Letter of Intent Deadline: Wednesday, September 4, 2024
  • Application Deadline: Monday, November 18, 2024
  • Response to Critique Due: Friday, February 21, 2025
  • Project Start Date: July 1, 2025

CARES Center Opportunity

The CARES Center: Cancer Awareness, Research, Engagement, and Support Center led by the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in partnership with the Minority Health & Health Equity Research Center (MHERC) and the O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer Center invites applications for pilot and feasibility studies to address disparities across the cancer control continuum in areas characterized by persistent poverty.

Applicants should submit a Letter of Intent to Kaitlyn Waugaman, kjwaugaman@uabmc.edu, by Friday, September 6, at midnight.
