Bio
Somnath Das was raised in Warner Robins, GA by his two loving parents – Dr. Santanu and Sonali Das. In college, he developed an early interest in neuroscience via his coursework at Emory. He was first exposed to neurosurgery in Paris, France, during his course on Neuroethics. As a senior, he had the opportunity to observe a neurosurgical mission in Mirebalais, Haiti. Shortly after, he started medical school at Jefferson, where he conducted research in functional and cerebrovascular neurosurgery. He is excited to return to the South and is honored to serve the patients of Birmingham and the greater Alabama area. His current neurosurgical interests include ethics in neurosurgery, global neurosurgery, functional, and pediatrics. During his free time, he loves to brew coffee, spend time with family and friends, go to concerts, and enjoy the local food scene.
