The School of Medicine is hosting its first Research Roundtable on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 7:30 a.m.-4:45 p.m. at the Sheraton Birmingham Hotel. This all-day event will spotlight the School of Medicine’s five research focus areas.
Michael Niederweis, Ph.D., professor in the UAB Department of Microbiology, has been elected as a Fellow to the American Academy of Microbiology (AAM). This honor recognizes his excellence, originality and leadership in the microbiological sciences.
UAB and UAB Medicine have begun the enterprise implementation of OnCore, a management system for clinical trials and study-related information. The system is being expanded across the School of Medicine in three waves, with the first wave focused on the Department of Medicine.
Bradley Wills, M.D., a PGY-4 resident in the UAB Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, won first place for his poster titled, "Outcomes with Overlapping Surgery at a Large Academic Medical Center."
The School of Medicine hosted its annual scholarship dinner at the UAB National Alumni Society House on Friday, Oct. 27.
Daniel A. Portnoy, Ph.D., one of the world’s foremost experts on Listeria monocytogenes, will speak at the 2017 Susan Roberts Dubay Endowed Lecture on Nov. 7. 
Winners of the 2017 Argus Awards were announced at the ceremony held Friday, Sept. 8. The awards are given each year by medical students to honor their professors and course directors for excellence in medical education.
Ellen Rothenberg, Ph.D., professor of biology at the California Insitute of Technology, will be the keynote speaker at the inaugural David E. Wells Memorial Symposium, hosted by the Department of Microbiology.
