At the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care, our vision is to continue to transform care for patients and families with serious illness.  Building on our strengths, we hope to expand our clinical programs, accelerate our research efforts and broaden our reach in palliative care education.

Private philanthropic investment from patients and families, community friends, corporations and foundations enables the Center to provide patient and family-centered care to all those in need; fund innovative training programs for all learners, and conduct research focused on better detection, treatment, and prevention of symptoms in patients with serious or complex illness.

  • Annual Support

In 2008, the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care established the Compassion Fund, an annual giving fund that provides the Center with resources to invest in the clinical, research and educational priorities of the Center. Annual funds provide immediate impact on patients and families through the provision of patient and family care services, discovery of new knowledge through research and the education of tomorrow's leaders in the care of those with serious illness.

Gifts can be unrestricted or focused on one of three priority areas: patient care, research and education.

Annual giving is a vital source of momentum for the Center, and the primary way for our patients, families and community partners to help sustain the special features that sets the Center apart.

  • Establishing an Endowment

An endowment is a long-term investment in the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive Care, providing support year after year, generation after generation. The principal of your gift is invested and grows over time, while distributions provide a steady, reliable source of income to the Center.

It also gives you the opportunity to have your name or the name of a loved one linked to an area in which you have a special interest. By creating an endowed gift, you can be confident that it will grow and continue to support the mission of the UAB Center for Palliative and Supportive for years to come.

You can start an endowment that supports:
    Research endeavors
    Education and training programs
    Patient care programming
