The American College of Rheumatology's Committee (ACR) on Research has selected Dr. Tim Beukelman as the ACR Early Career Investigator Delegate for the ACR/EULAR International Academic Rheumatology Exchange. Beukelman is an Associate Professor in the UAB Division of  Pediatric Rheumatology

Dr. Randy Cron, Professor and Director, Division of UAB Pediatric Rheumatology, has been chosen as The ACR Senior Faculty host. He will serve as liaison with the EULAR Senior Faculty host, host to the EULAR Delegation at the 2012 ACR Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington, DC, and coordinator of approximately three post-ACR annual meeting visits with US academic institutions. As coordinator of the post-meeting visits, Dr. Cron will be responsible for making initial contact with the institutions to secure their participation, coordinating a meaningful exchange program to be held at the institution, and creating a reasonable travel schedule.  Dr. Cron also participated as an ACR Early Career Investigator Delegate in 2001.

Both Drs. Cron and Beukelman will participate in the 2013 ACR/EULAR International Academic Exchange Program that will take place in Madrid, Spain June 12-15, 2013.

The ACR-EULAR Exchange Program has a long history of international exchange. The program allows participants to share knowledge and experience, and creates opportunities for collaboration. The program recognizes outstanding rheumatology faculty in both laboratory and clinic-based research, and provides exposure to the exciting work being done by colleagues overseas. In addition, the program fosters the alliance between ACR and EULAR and assists in identifying future leaders within both organizations.
