Welcome to the Department of Urology at the University of Alabama School of Medicine. While both the Medical School and the Department of Urology are relatively young, they have had tremendous growth in the past 50 years. Both the Medical Center and the Department of Urology are considered to be among the top medical centers in America. In the past thirty years, we have grown from a small division of two members to currently twenty-one faculty.

Early on, we provided the full range of general urology care, but over time we have added faculty with subspecialty interests and presently have a majority who have had specialized training in the various disciplines of urology. We have specialists who provide state-of-the-art care in Oncology, Infertility, Stone Disease, Neurourology, Sexual Dysfunction, Urethral Stricture Disease, Urinary Incontinence, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Pediatric Urology, and Female Urology. Many of these surgeons have been recognized by their peers as among the top physicians in Birmingham and America. These specialists are actively engaged in clinical care, teaching, and research. Our basic premise is that high-quality clinical care drives our research and teaching functions. We strive to offer the highest quality clinical urology and advanced surgical treatment in a caring and sensitive way. We provide care for all urological problems from the ordinary to the most complex.
