The UAB STARS Lab is conducting a research study to explore children's motivation to complete moderately challenging tasks and how this relates to academic achievement, language, cognition, and behavior in individuals with Down syndrome.
Who can participate?
• Children aged 15-21 with a diagnosis of Down syndrome (both males and females are welcome).
What does the study involve?
• 1-2 days of activities at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in Campbell Hall.
• Your child will complete language and cognitive assessments, as well as game-like activities with a researcher.
• Caregivers will complete questionnaires and participate in an interview about their child’s communication, behavior, and development.
What will you receive?
• $50 compensation for participation.
• Reimbursement for travel expenses.
• A score report with your child’s results.

Do you want to understand your child's academic and emotional needs?
Are you a parent of a child between the ages of 11-14?
The UAB Science of Child Development and Neurodiversity Lab is recruiting participants for a study on socio-emotional competencies across diverse populations.
This study includes children who are typically developing or diagnosed with specific learning disorders (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia) and/or ADHD.
What will your family do?
• Caregivers will have a 30-minute online meeting to review the study and sign consent forms.
• Caregivers will complete a 30-minute survey, and children will complete a 2-hour survey online.
• Children will also take part in a 1.5-hour online cognitive assessment.
After completing the study, families will receive:
• A resource guide with tips to improve socio-emotional skills.
• A score report providing insights into cognitive function and academic achievement.
• A $50 gift card upon study completion.

Do you have Type 2 Diabetes and have tried to Lose Weight?
Learn more about the CT-388-104 Study testing the safety and effectiveness of a selective GLP-1/GIP investigational drug for those living with overweight or obesity with type 2 diabetes.
You may be able to join the CT-388-104 Study if you:
- Are 18 through 75 years old
- Have a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or above
- Have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes
- Have tried to lose weight once or more through diet and exercise but without success
There are other requirements for taking part in this study. The study team will go over these with you.
If you qualify to join, you may receive at no cost:
- The investigational drug or placebo
- Close medical care and follow-up throughout the study
- Lifestyle management counseling
