Do you have a child aged 6 months to 18 years of age that is scheduled to receive the COVID-19 vaccine series or booster?
If so, they could be a part of a study that looks at the long-term effects of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Healthy children or children with conditions affecting their immune systems are eligible to enroll. Blood samples and nasal swabs will be collected every 2 months for one year. You or your child must be a male or female aged 6 to 17 years of age with an underlying medical condition, positive for COVID-19, and experiencing symptoms. If you qualify for the study, you will be provided the medication to take for 5 days. The entire study will last approximately 1 month, with several clinic and in home visits. Blood samples will be collected throughout the study period. Compensation for participation is available. CMVibe Study: Evaluates a CMV vaccine in healthy females or males aged 9-15 years old and healthy females aged 16-25 years old.
Congenital CMV infection is the most common infection passed from the mother to baby during pregnancy. It is also the most common non-hereditary cause of hearing loss and brain damage in children. You or your child will have 3 injections, several months apart. You will have approximately 11 clinic visits over the 18 month study period. Saliva swabs, urine, and blood samples will be required. Help us find out by joining our study at UAB by participating in the PRECISION-BP research study investigating the effects of Sacubitril/Valsartan or Valsartan on your body’s 24-hour rhythm of a hormone in your blood called natriuretic peptides. This hormone and the study medications are related to the heart. Eligible participants must be obese (BMI: 30-45 kg/m2) men and women, have high blood pressure, and have no history of heart or kidney problems. The study involves wearing a blood pressure monitor for 24 hours, 24-hour inpatient visits at UAB Hospital, taking medications, and collecting blood and urine samples. Meals will be provided at no cost. Participants will be compensated $575 for completing the study visits.
