Journey to the edge

After 22 Antarctic journeys, UAB biologist Jim McClintock is practically a local. Last year, Joy Jones, assistant director of the Career Center in Career and Professional Development services, helped increase the number of nurse-shadowing programs for pre-nursing students. For her work to increase collaboration across campus, Jones has been named Employee of the Month for November.

ABC’s Nightline, which airs weekdays at 11:35 p.m., CT, will re-air its July story on UAB's kidney chain Thanksgiving night. The program can be seen locally on ABC 33/40. The UAB kidney chain — the nation’s longest — is still on going, with transplant No. 29 taking place this past week and more scheduled for December.

Help spread the warmth

UAB Eye Care’s outreach program is collecting donations of new items such as blankets, scarves, hats and gloves to give away during free vision exams in the first week of December.
