A new forum will enable postdoctoral trainees to share their research with peers, network and begin to form career-lasting collaborations here at UAB. The first of four “Post-Docs at Work” events will be held 4-6 p.m. Nov. 13 in the Edge of Chaos.

Estella Floyd, mother of Indianapolis Colts cornerback and special teams star Loucheiz Purifoy, got to see her son for the first time since May recently when he visited home on a bye week. It was also the first time he had seen her since she received a new kidney as a link in the UAB Kidney Chain.

Wdowiak Ridge, a rock-strewn hill about 500 feet long and 40 feet high, was named for the late Thomas Wdowiak, Ph.D., an astrophysicist who helped uncover firm evidence that water once existed on Mars.

Kirby Bland, M.D., Fay Fletcher Kerner Professor and chair of the Department of Surgery and surgeon-in-chief of the UAB Health System Hospitals and Clinics, was named the 2014 Distinguished Faculty Lecturer, the highest honor bestowed by the UAB Academic Health Center.
