UAB's Faculty Fellows in Engaged Scholarship program is open to all faculty involved in undergraduate teaching, with priority given to courses taught by faculty who are new or marginally experienced with service-learning. The workshops explore theories, implementation and assessment of academic service-learning and ways to integrate this into courses across the disciplines.

Lee Meadows, Ph.D., who guides science teachers on ways to teach evolution, will apply those theories to a much larger audience as a member of a committee the Museum of Natural History has assembled to offer support and advice regarding its exhibit on the science of human origins, "What Does it Mean to Be Human?"

Doreen C. Harper, Ph.D., dean of the UAB School of Nursing, has been appointed to the Department of Veterans Affairs Special Medical Advisory Group, which advises on the care and treatment of veterans and other matters. UAB has played a prominent role in aiding veterans through care and opportunity during Harper’s tenure.

Co-workers say Kristina Panizzi Woodley, Ph.D., assumed great responsibility for coordinating the School of Medicine’s self-study for reaccreditation. For her leadership, Woodley has been named April Employee of the Month.
