Glen Feldman, Ph.D., professor of history, received the Anne B. and James B. McMillan Book Prize for his work, "The Irony of the Solid South: Democrats, Republicans, and Race, 1865-1944," which examines the South’s transition to a majority Republican region from its Democratic roots.

Professor William D. Jordan, Jr., M.D., has become president-elect of the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery for the 2014-16 academic years, and he will serve as president from 2016-2018.

Physical education courses now will carry a KIN prefix to reflect the program's name change to Kinesiology, and students should review options under that designation when registering. Only the name has changed; Kinesiology offers the same degrees and concentrations offered through the Physical Education program.
