The 2014 UAB Benevolent Fund campaign is going strong with an unofficial tally of $1,733,688 in total pledges, including continuous donors and one-time gifts. Pledges to-date put the campaign at 93.7 percent of its goal, but campaign donations still are being submitted.
“Opportunities to learn about the Benevolent Fund and the agencies we support continue throughout the spring," said Lisa Higginbotham, Benevolent Fund program manager. "One of the great things about the campaign is that every dollar helps someone in our community. Each employee has the opportunity to join us in building our future now."
The fund accepts donations year round, and the UAB Medicine Benevolent Fund campaign will run April 1-30.
The Benevolent Fund hosted a Lunch and Learn this past week to promote the upcoming UAB Habitat House project, and Beth Bradner from Habitat for Humanity was the guest speaker. The house will be built in October by a group of UAB employees and students volunteering their time.
"Just as a single brick provides no shelter, but many bricks together can build a home, our combined contributions to the UAB Benevolent Fund have a great impact on our UAB family and extended community," said Carolyn Walsh, stewardship communications specialist for the Office of Advancement Services.
