Each Wednesday during April beginning April 1, all UAB employees and active Campus Recreation members, including students and non-students, can participate in #WalkItOutUAB 2.0, a group-walking program designed to help encourage daily movement and exploration of the UAB campus.
Participants can earn points toward their Quest for 2000, the member rewards program dedicated to enhancing a lifestyle of healthy living for the UAB community. Program points can be redeemed for free swag, including up to three months of free membership.
Join up at noon each Wednesday at these locations:
- April 4 at the Campus Green for a 1-mile walk around the Academic Blazer Trail
- April 11 at the corner of 18th Street South and Seventh Avenue South for a two-lap trek around the UAB Medicine Outdoor Trail
- April 18 at the UAB Hospital West Pavilion for a 0.9-mile walk around the UAB Medicine/Children’s of Alabama Trail
- April 25 at the corner of University Boulevard and 14th Street South outside Heritage Hall for a two-mile trek around the UAB Outdoor Public Art – Central Campus Trail, created by the UAB Reporter.
“Daily movement is an essential part of a person’s overall health, fitness and wellness,” said Henry Kneijfl, coordinator of membership and guest services for the Department of Campus Recreation. “Walking UAB’s beautiful campus is an easy way to be intentional about your health this spring.”
Can’t make it to a group walk? UAB employees who aren’t members of Campus Recreation can also access the Campus Recreation Center’s indoor track 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Mondays and Fridays throughout April.
