More than 3,300 employees took part in the 2018 WELLSCREENS campaign, and nearly 3,000 of them earned a combined $138,730 just for participating.
The annual biometric health screenings were offered earlier this year to all benefit-eligible employees of the university, UAHSF, UAB Health System and UAB Hospital. WELLSCREENS measure glucose, total cholesterol, HDL, blood pressure, height, weight and BMI, among other indicators, to give participants a snapshot of their overall health.
All eligible who are the primary account holder of an active UAB medical plan received a $50 incentive on their May paycheck for participating.
Employee Wellness Director Anna Threadcraft said she was encouraged by the enthusiastic response to this year’s campaign.
“We saw almost 1,000 more people than the year before, and registration booked up within three days,” Threadcraft said. “We’re excited to provide even more opportunities next year for employees to know their numbers.”
