Approach

The first two phases of the project incorporated in-depth data analysis, benchmarking exercises, stakeholders interviews, and establishing working groups to understand the current state and potential future.

We Defined the Future by identifying:

• our capacity (people, process, space, and technology) to achieve our growth goals,
• prioritized strategic funding opportunity areas required to achieve research growth,
• opportunities to enhance the research organization,
• resources required for success, and
• an optimized path for competitive growth in our Clinical Trials portfolio.

Next, we Developed the Path Forward by developing a proposed strategic plan highlighting infrastructure and technology enhancements and strategic research opportunity areas for investment and growth to expand UAB’s research footprint and impact.

The third phase, Implementation, will consist of reviewing the recommendations, goals, and objectives and formulating and executing the action plan for effectively implementing them over the coming years.
