Personally, the Gulf Scholars Program has helped me branch out from my comfort zone, encouraging me to explore new ways I can positively impact my community. It has inspired me to think creatively about solving our local issues. Academically, the program has provided me with invaluable opportunities to connect with like-minded peers and professors who share my interests and passions.

Q: How does your major/interests connect with the components and themes of the Gulf Scholars Program?

As a future healthcare provider, the Gulf Scholars Program has opened my eyes to the different ways the environment can impact health. Many people are unaware that their surroundings, whether it’s the air they breathe, the water they drink, or the ecosystems they live near, can have long-term effects on their well-being. This program has helped me see that the health of people and the planet are seen as interconnected, rather than separate concerns.

Q: What would you say to students considering applying to the Gulf Scholars Program?

I would tell students to apply! Being part of this program has been a rewarding experience, both personally and academically. It’s a community that truly cares about each other's growth and success, and I’m so grateful to be a part of it. I’d love to see the program grow! See you soon!
