5 UAB Sustainability Food and Dining Initiatives, including replacing 250,000 plastic straws in 2 1/2 months
This past Fall, most UAB Dining Services vendors replaced their plastic straws with eco-friendly products, while also encouraging students to reduce their use of straws. According to a UAB survey, in the first two and half months, over 250,000 plastic straws were replaced.

Walk It Out with Campus Recreation on Wednesdays in Nov.
On Nov. 1 Campus Recreation launched its Quest for 2,000 Walk it Out Program. All UAB Employees and all active UAB Campus Recreation members (both students and non-student members) can participate through Nov. 30 and be eligible to earn points towards their Quest for 2,000-Member Rewards Program.

UAB Student Affairs’ professional development committee recently hosted its first One-Day Conference, which was themed "Creating a community, Building connections". More than 100 Blazers attended the free event that was open to all Student Affairs professionals and students.

Student Affairs recently welcomed one of its newest staff members: Rodney "Rock" George. Rock serves as the Campus Dining Services Coordinator in the Department of Housing and Residence Life. In his role, he will facilitate the Blazer Bucks Program and Meal Plan Assessment as well as other duties as assigned.
