Beginning Monday, Oct. 7th, the South Green Campus Recreation Center stop will be closed due to the demolition of Denman Hall. This closure will affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic on a portion of 9th Ave South directly in front of Denman and remain in effect through November. The area can be viewed on the UAB Construction Map.

In observance of Labor Day, there will be no Blazer Express bus, Highlands Shuttle, or MARS service on Monday, Sept. 2.

The nighttime Safety Escort van service will operate as normal on both Sunday, Sept. 1 and Monday, Sept. 2.

In observance of the Independence Day holiday, the UAB Transportation Office will be closed on Thursday, July 4. As such, there will be no Blazer Express bus, Highlands Shuttle, or Motorist Assistance Roadside Service (MARS) on this day.

Due to construction, the 14th Street Parking Deck will be unavailable to drivers this weekend. The parking deck will be taken offline Saturday, June 22 and Sunday, June 23 to enable crews to transition the Cooper Green Mercy Health building project to permanent power. The entrances and exits to the deck will be blocked, preventing drivers from entering the deck.  

UAB Transportation has partnered with TransLoc to provide a comprehensive transportation services app to faculty, staff and students. TransLoc – which replaces DoubleMap and TapRide – will provide real-time tracking of all Blazer Express buses and requesting capabilities for on-demand services, Safety Escort and Blaze Ride. The transition will be effective July 1st. 

In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, the UAB Transportation office will be closed. As such, there will be no Blazer Express bus, Highlands Shuttle, or Motorist Assistance Roadside Service (MARS) on Wednesday, June 19.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) has opened its first new parking deck in over 20 years just ahead of the scheduled closing of Lot 5A.   

Parking permits for the fall semester and academic year will be available for purchase beginning 8 a.m. June 1. Information on options and pricing is available on the Student Parking page. UAB Transportation will continue to offer zone parking options. 

In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no Blazer Express bus, Highlands Shuttle, or MARS service on Monday, May 27.

The nighttime Safety Escort van service will operate as normal on both Sunday, May 26 and Monday, May 27.

Parking permits for the Summer 2024 semester will be available to order through the UAB Transportation website beginning 8 a.m. April 1. You can find a full list of permit options, as well as pricing, on the Student Parking page.

Several UAB Transportation services will be suspended in observance of UAB's Spring Break, March 11-17. 

Due to winter weather and hazardous road conditions UAB Transportation will be making adjustments to parking and other services.

In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, UAB Transportation will suspend services Monday, January 15.

n observance of UAB designated holidays during December and January, UAB Transportation will alter several services.

In preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday, please take note of the changes to several of UAB Transportation’s services.

Medical center employees with permits in the Express parking lots should follow the normal holiday parking plan and utilize the 6th Avenue Parking Deck.

UAB Transportation will suspend several Blazer Express routes and Blaze Ride service beginning May 1 in anticipation of reduced passenger loads during the summer semester.

“Each of the routes and services will return for the fall semester, when passenger demand increases,” said Brian Atkinson, executive director of UAB Transportation.  “In the meantime, we encourage people to utilize many of our other transportation options available during the summer.”

Parking permits for the Summer 2023 semester will be available to order through the UAB Transportation website beginning 8 a.m. April 1. You can find a full list of permit options, as well as pricing, on the Student Parking page.

UAB Transportation will continue to offer zone parking options. For the summer, students residing in UAB residence halls will be able to order a permit in Zone A or Zone H. Students not living on campus will have an opportunity to choose a permit from Zone B through Zone G.  Zone C will not be available during the summer semester.
