The Certificate in Organizational Communication is designed to develop students’ communication and integral managerial skills, allowing them to adapt to varying business environments and a wide range of audiences and clients. The undergraduate certificate program emphasizes the importance of business writing skills, verbal and nonverbal communication, and global communication skills.
Communications is a broad topic that includes many competencies. The certificate curriculum includes three required communications courses and allows students to choose two elective courses that align with their respective career goals.
Who can benefit?
- Current business students (e.g. a management major wanting an edge in organizational business communication).
- Current UAB students with majors outside of business (e.g. an art major planning to sell designs or services).

Courses and Program Requirements
The Organizational Communication Certificate can be completed on-campus, online, or a combination of both and requires completion of three core communication courses (three credit hours each) and two electives:
