Human Imaging Services

  • Develop, review and implement human research study protocols involving imaging biomarkers, outcomes, and services.
  • Coordinate and organize research budgets for research studies involving human imaging services.
  • Develop, optimize, and deploy research-based image acquisition protocols for X-ray, mammography, CT, MRI, PET CT, PET MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and image-guided biopsies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and complete pre-study services including questionnaires, phantom scans, and site initiation visits to facilitate initiation and participation in investigator-initiated and multi-centered clinical trials.
  • Provide consultation services with medical physicists and radiologists for human research involving advanced imaging techniques and services.
  • Maintain research scanner time and coordinate and schedule routine and complex human research imaging services on clinical scanners.
  • Conduct image de-identification and delivery of individual imaging studies and distribute to research coordinators and investigators.
  • Provide infrastructure and leadership for continued participation in the Lead Academic Participating Site (LAPS) for the National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN) by enhancing and increasing recruitment into Cooperative Group Trials.
  • Coordinate renewal of the NCI Center of Quantitative Imaging Excellence designation for CT, MR, and PET imaging by supporting investigator-initiated and cooperative group prospective clinical trials that focus on novel imaging biomarkers.

Advanced Cancer Response Evaluation

  • Analyze research study protocols to identify the correct tumor metrics and response criteria needed to support all oncologic trials with imaging end points.
  • Provide standardized tumor response evaluation services for oncologic research studies using CT, MRI, PET CT, and PET MRI tumor metrics as outcomes.
  • Coordinate physicians reads and tumor response evaluation to facilitate timely oncologic treatment.
  • Leverage artificial-intelligence and guided workflows to reduce errors and improve accuracy, standardization, efficiency, and inter-observer agreement in tumor response evaluation.
  • Provide access and resources for primary investigators, biostatisticians, and administrators to evaluate tumor response outcomes at the level of a patient, study, tumor type, program, and cancer center.

Imaging Biomarker and Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Development and Validation

  • Guide protocol development and support investigator-initiated research studies that focus on imaging biomarkers, from concept development through publication.
  • Develop image acquisition protocols that support imaging biomarker development and validation.
  • Provide bulk image de-identification and transfer services to facilitate population science, imaging biomarker testing and validation, and artificial intelligence algorithm development and validation.
  • Perform advanced radiomics analysis on every patient that present for tumor metrics services.
  • Provide simple and advanced image processing services for non-cancer human research studies involving imaging biomarkers or outcomes.
  • Provide annotation services for development and validation of AI and machine learning algorithms.
