Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics
Application Deadline
August 15
The Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics extends over a period of 30 months and leads to a Certificate in Orthodontics. This postdoctoral program encompasses the study of basic sciences and other relevant areas by combining laboratory and clinical work with didactic courses. It is designed to meet the standards of the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Education for Advanced Education Programs in Orthodontics and to satisfy the American Board of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics requirements.
While there may be some advantages to applicants having at least one year of postdoctoral education following graduation from dental school, this does not preclude the acceptance of individuals who have graduated from dental school during the year for which they apply for admission.
Certificate with Master of Science Option
Applicants may choose to combine the certificate program with a Master of Science in Dentistry. In addition to providing an opportunity to engage in research, this option also provides a basis for graduates to pursue an academic career if they so desire. In addition to completing the didactic courses offered, each candidate will complete a thesis based on original research. Upon successful completion of requirements of the residency program and defense of a thesis, the candidate will be awarded a Master’s of Science Degree in Dentistry as well as a Certificate in Orthodontics.
Application
The Certificate in Orthodontics Program participates in the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS), (i.e., the central application service sponsored by the American Dental Education Association). Interested applicants should apply through PASS. Application materials can be obtained through PASS or by contacting:
