Dr. Christopher Waldron has been at UAB since 2008. He brings a diverse mix of public and private sector experience with him to UAB, allowing him to bring a practical perspective to his teaching and research. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) in the Roadway Management Division and for INTECH Construction in Philadelphia as an assistant project engineer. After completing his graduate degrees, Waldron worked as a bridge engineer at FIGG, where he worked on the design, load rating, and construction support of many signature bridges. Since coming to UAB he has taught a wide range of structural engineering and construction management courses, and has completed research investigating innovations in prestressed/precast concrete bridge structures and the effect of increasing truck weights on the construction and maintenance of existing and new bridges.

Waldron primarily teaches structural engineering courses ranging from the sophomore level to the graduate level. Common courses taught include:

  • Statics,
  • Mechanics of Solids,
  • Structural Analysis,
  • Reinforced Concrete Design,
  • Advanced Mechanics,
  • Advanced Structural Analysis, and
  • Advanced Reinforced Concrete.
