In October of 2007, I was hired out of industry to help develop and grow the Construction Engineering Management (CEM) program. Since inception, CEM now has 496 alumni and continues to thrive. It is my personal mission to invest in the CEM students to help them achieve academic and professional success. I have a 12-month faculty appointment and teach, recruit, and advise for the CEM track of study. I also recruit and advise for the Civil Structural Engineering program.
The construction industry is changing rapidly. Technology has greatly enhanced communication, work site safety, design and accuracy of reporting data, changes and updates. My teaching goals include helping students understand how to better communicate with their project teams and stakeholders. I want them to learn better time management skills, leadership skills, and how to keep the project team motivated. It is also important to me that we teach the students the power of the emerging technologies and how it can create efficiencies in the workplace.
