Ombuds Office:
An ombudsperson provides confidential, neutral, impartial and independent conflict resolution assistance to UAB faculty, staff, mentored graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows (“visitors”) for university related conflicts between two or more parties. The University Ombudsperson discusses different options for conflict management, reduction, or resolution. We serve as an alternative not a replacement of other University resources for voicing concerns. The University Ombudsperson collaborates with all UAB university departments and communities.

Police and Public Safety:
To promote a safe environment, UAB endeavors to keep our community informed of crimes on or near campus whether they involve members of the UAB community or not. The following information is about a crime that occurred at an off-campus apartment.
At approximately 1:36 a.m. on Friday Sept. 30, there was a shooting at an off-campus apartment in Five Points South. Police determined there was no active threat to UAB. The two victims are not UAB students or employees. This is an ongoing Birmingham Police investigation.
