Kathryn Jones, PhD, is a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy Association (AAMFT) and has served as the Chair, Chair-Elect, Director I, and Treasurer of the Alabama Marriage and Family Therapists (ALAMFT) Network of AAMFT. She has also served as the Secretary for The ARC of Jefferson County Junior Board and is involved with other service and volunteer organizations as well. Her Master’s thesis explored sexual coercion in adolescents and was published in the Journal of Integrative Psychology. Dr. Jones’ dissertation studied sleep quality and sleep hygiene behaviors in college students. Her doctoral research was published as a journal article in the Journal of American College Health. She completed the 2019-2020 UAB Blaze Leadership Academy at UAB. She has presented poster presentations at AAMFT national conferences, the American Public Health Association national conference, and the Rural Health Conference. She has been a guest panelist for the Southeastern Symposium on Child and Family Development and has presented at the 2012 Alabama Counseling Association conference, 2018 ALAMFT annual conference, 2019 SHAPE America Conference and Expo, and Health and Physical Literacy Summit 2020. She has also taught at UAB in the School of Education and Human Sciences Community Health and Human Services program.

Dr. Jones works with individuals, couples, and families and has experience working with clients on a wide variety of topics, including depression, anxiety, stress management, parenting, relationship issues, divorce, blended families, LGBTQIA+ issues, and grief and loss. Her goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental environment that allows people to explore their thoughts and emotions and empower them to create change. She has been a clinician at UAB since 2005 and in the past has worked with Auburn University’s EAP program and Family and Children’s Services in Opelika, AL. She provides educational presentations for employees on a variety of topics including stress management, depression, resilience, compassion fatigue, work-life integration and positive psychology principles. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Jones provides clinical supervision for MFTs seeking licensure.
