Liz Gunter is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and National Certified Counselor (NCC). She received a Master of Arts (MA) in Counseling from The University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies (BA) from Auburn University. Liz is a member of the Alabama Counseling Association (ALCA), ALMHCA (Alabama Mental Health Counselors Association) and ALGBTICAL (Association for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Issues in Counseling). She certified in ScreamFree Parenting and is the past-president of Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Honor Society.
Liz works with individuals, couples and families on a wide array of issues including depression, anxiety, chronic illness, parenting, burnout, stress management, job related concerns, communication, relationships, grief and loss. While counseling mostly out of a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) framework, meeting clients where they are is of the utmost importance to Liz. Before joining the EACC, she worked at Children’s of Alabama for over 12 years providing counseling to patients with chronic pulmonary/sleep issues and their families; she was also the Cystic Fibrosis Mental Health Coordinator. Liz is a national and/or local presenter on the topics of Maintaining Professional Boundaries, Mental Health and Chronic Illness, Creative Coping, Communication within Teams, and Caregiving and Chronic Illness.
