More than 1,200 interns, residents and fellows train in every medical specialty at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at regional campuses in Montgomery, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa and Selma. Each year, a class of trainees graduate and a new class joins UAB, setting off on their trainee experience, whether it be a one-year fellowship program or a seven-year residency.

Sabrina Famuyiwa - clinical research coordinator I
Sabrina obtained her bachelor's in public health from UAB in May 2020 and is currently working on her master's in epidemiology. Previously, she served as a public health educator for the Alabama Department of Public Health as well as a compounding pharmacy technician for the UAB Kirklin Clinic.
Sabrina has conducted several literature reviews and has been extremely involved in community-based participatory research efforts, including gathering and analyzing qualitative data. Her research focus includes reproductive health in rural, underserved communities. She looks forward to exploring the long-term outcomes of spina bifida patients in her new role.
In her free time, she enjoys roller-skating, weightlifting, plant admiration, and spending time with her dog, Sued!

Hale wins $25K grant to study Vein of Galen malformation
UAB Department of Neurosurgery PGY1 Resident Andrew Hale, M.D., Ph.D., was awarded a $25,000 grant from The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation (TAAF) for his study titled "Multi-omics analysis elucidates the genetic basis of Vein of Galen Malformation."
