Biography

Dr. Lancaster is an associate professor of surgery within the Division of Breast and Endocrine Surgery and works at the UAB Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic. There, she partners with medical oncologists and radiation oncologists to devise and tailor individual treatment plans for patients newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

Dr. Lancaster is a fellowship trained breast surgical oncologist. Her clinical practice focuses on the surgical management of invasive breast cancer, DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ), and benign breast disease. Her surgical expertise includes breast lumpectomy, mastectomy including nipple sparing mastectomy, and lymphadenectomy. Dr. Lancaster’s research interests include patient education and its impact on decision making, DCIS, breast cancer prevention, and breast cancer treatment outcomes.

Dr. Lancaster became a doctor of medicine after receiving her degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine at Birmingham in 2010. She completed her residency in general surgery at UAB in 2015. After surgical residency, she completed a fellowship in breast surgical oncology at the University of California San Francisco. She then returned to Birmingham, Ala., to begin her clinical and academic practice at UAB in 2016.
