Change starts in the streets
On a Saturday in spring 2017, more than 250 UAB students went Into the Streets. At Red Mountain Park (above and at top), students removed invasive plants clogging trails, opening new avenues for recreation and wildlife.

Van service for employees with limited mobility begins Aug. 21
Just in time for the fall semester, UAB Parking and Transportation will launch BlazeRide, a new van service program that will operate 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and provide door-to-door accessible transport.

University of Alabama at Birmingham students took full advantage of the opportunity to “Spring into Service” on March 5. Each semester, the UAB Leadership and Service Council hosts “Into the Streets,” a signature event for students, faculty and administrators to aid community service projects.

UAB students go into the streets to aid the Birmingham community
On Saturday, Oct. 24, more than 500 UAB students met at the Campus Rec Center before dispersing out into the city to participate in service projects. Into the Streets is put on by the Leadership and Service Council twice per year, in October and March.
