Current Undergraduate Accounting Students

If you are a current UAB undergraduate accounting student, you may be able to transition into the UAB Mac program through our Accelerated Bachelor to Master of Accounting (ABM) program.

Ready to open doors to a brighter future with a graduate business degree from UAB? Our Master of Accounting (MAc) program accepts applications three times a year with no GMAT/GRE requirement and ONE of the following requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited university, received less than five years before the desired enrollment term at UAB, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all upper-division accounting courses; OR
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting from an AACSB-accredited university, received at any point in time, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0, a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all upper-division accounting course, and 3+ years of professional accounting experience; OR
  • A bachelor's degree in any discipline (except accounting) from a U.S. regionally accredited university and completion of UAB's Accounting Bridge Certificate program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the Accounting Bridge Certificate (or its equivalent).

  • Two letters of recommendation (at least one must be professional). GMAT/GRE test scores can be voluntarily submitted to support your application.

International Applicants Only: Additional Requirements

  • TOEFL minimum composite score of 80 with a minimum score of 20 for each section or IELTS minimum composite score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each section is required for those whose native language is not English.
  • A general credentialing evaluation from ECE or WES stating U.S. degree equivalency of four-year U.S. bachelor's degree and GPA is required. 
  • If the bachelor's degree in accounting is from a non-U.S. institution, two prerequisites (AC 402-Introduction to Income Taxation and AC 430-Financial Accounting III) must be completed with a 3.0 GPA before acceptance into the MAc program.
  • International applicants are required to apply at least six months before the deadline to ensure time for transcript evaluation and processing of all Visa paperwork. The MAc program accepts international applications for fall and spring terms only. 

Transcript Evaluations

Applicants with coursework earned from institutions outside the United States must provide a course-by-course foreign college transcript evaluation of all attended non-U.S. institutions.* We will accept a transcript evaluation from any NACES-accredited evaluation company. To determine academic eligibility for admissions, academic credentials must be:

  • Translated to English
  • Evaluated course-by-course
  • Include the overall academic GPA
  • From an approved third-party company.

SpanTran created a custom application for UAB that will make sure you select the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access their application through the SpanTran application – The University of Alabama at Birmingham portal opens a new website.

International Student and Scholar Services will have access to your decision and a representative will contact you directly if any other documentation is necessary to begin processing your immigration documents.

*UAB will complete the evaluation for institutions outside of the United States if they are on a 4.0 grading scale. UAB reserves the right to request a NACES-accredited evaluation if a determination is made that the evaluation cannot be completed internally.
