The Anthropology of Peace and Human Rights is a two-year master’s program. In consultation with your advisor, you will choose during your first year to follow either the Plan I (thesis) or Plan II (comprehensive exam) to complete the master’s degree.

Courses

Students will take several required courses. Foundational courses are designed to provide an introduction to the topic of the master’s program and should be taken in the first year of study. Students will also take elective courses in their areas of interest, in consultation with their advisors. Students have the option of taking a maximum of two electives (6 credits) from other departments at UAB. Required and elective courses for Plan I and Plan II are listed in the UAB Graduate CatalogOpens an external link.. All procedures and requirements listed in the UAB Graduate Student Handbook apply to this program.
