The UAB Neurofibromatosis Clinic provides comprehensive, integrated care for children and adults with all forms of neurofibromatosis, including NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis. As a worldwide leader in neurofibromatosis, our program is dedicated to caring for patients and families affected by NF with expert diagnosis, treatment, and access to leading-edge research and clinical trials.
Patients receive exceptional care from a multidisciplinary team of specialists who collaborate in the treatment and management of NF and its complications. As a member of the Children’s Tumor Foundation NF Clinic Network (NFCN), our focus is providing integrated clinical care across the lifespan, as well as education, support, and counseling for individuals and families affected by NF.
Clinic Expertise
Our program is directed by medical geneticist Bruce R. Korf, MD, PhD, distinguished for his extensive clinical expertise and contributions to the NF scientific community. Also, our clinical team includes: pediatric neuro-oncologist Katie Metrock, MD, as well as adult neuro-oncologists; certified nurse practitioner Tammi Skelton, CRNP; and genetic counselors who collaborate in providing patients and families with expert care, assistance, and support in managing the lifelong medical, psychological, and social implications of an NF diagnosis.
